Weekly homemade dog food recipe is up for grabs !

Before I jump into the ingredients & recipe , I’d like to share a little information , just in case this is your first time reading my blog .
I have two female fur kids 17 yrs old and 10 yrs old . My oldest is Camry , she’s a Maltese/poodle mix and Bella is a Yorki/Shitzu/poodle mix . They weigh 7 & 9lbs . So please understand that you will have to adjust quantity to your pets needs . I just want to share my recipes in hopes to helping you decide what’s a good balanced meal and give you recipe ideas . Make sure you reach out to your pets vet for professional advice on what your pets might need in their diet , especially vitamins and or supplements
Now let me share this weeks recipe

Ingredients
- 6 skinless/boneless chicken breast
- 6 lbs of sweet potato ( two 3 lb bags )
- 5 lbs of frozen mixed veggies
- 4 apples chopped
- 2 cups of blueberries
- 2 tablespoons turmeric powder
Directions : Start with a large pot , add water , chicken breast and heat on high until water boils and then set to medium low for 45 min ( or until no longer pink inside )
Cut the ends off of the sweet potatoes and place in another large pot with water ( leave the peels on ) and boil until soft ( use a knife to check when they are done ) about 20-30 minutes ( knife should just slide through )

When they are cooked , drain and rinse with cold water and remove peels ( should be very easy )
While chicken is boiling , steam frozen veggies , apples and blueberries until they are soft

Remove the chicken and make sure they are no longer pink inside . You can cut the chicken into pieces with a knife , use a electric beater to shred or use your hands to shred ( that’s preferably what I do , it helps me make sure there are no pieces of bone left because I once found a piece )
Mash the sweet potatoes and add all ingredients back into the pot and mix well

Then weigh everything together ( I use a luggage scale . Just hook it to the pot , lift and weigh . ) This batch came out to 16 lbs . So therefore 16 teaspoons of calcium powder is needed . I order their calcium powder from Amazon ( read directions on the calcium powder package you have for correct amount needed )
Store in freezer ziplock bags . My pups eat two times a day , so I add 2 cups of the mix into 1 quart zip lock bag for easy measuring and daily serving .

At dinner time I add in their vitamin , they are currently taking Chewables for adult and senior dogs also from Amazon
